The house

Ok so most of you know that we have been waiting a long time to build our house, and after many trials and set backs we finally got started. The last 5 or maybe it has been 6 weeks have been very busy and exhausting, but fun also. I don't know whatever possesssed me to let my husband build a house. I knew it would be a lot of work, but this is just crazy!!!

Of course we all knew there would be problems and set backs and the first problem to arise was the cement truck sinking!! Thankfully, another cement truck came and they were able to get him out.

Here is the progression. All was going well, we got the trusses on and some of the upstairs floor laid and then last sunday the winds came. All of the trusses over the garage came down. We have had so many setbacks that we actually took this all in stride. What's another set back at this point? I am sure there will be more to come.

Yesterday we pulled down all of the broken trusses over the garage. It was actually kind of fun and good therapy. (No wonder that on the home improvement shows everyone loves the demolition)

Graduation 2010

Wow, I am so happy for Brittney. She is an amazing girl. Although it is hard to see your children grow up (and I have shed my fair share of tears) it is also exciting to watch them become these amazing people and I can't wait to see what the future holds for her. Good luck in College.

Senior Pictures

I don't know why I have been so behind with everything (my blog, housework, appointments) I think I am in a rut. Anyways Brittney has been bugging me to have her senior pictures taken. I was kind of putting it off. Then I realized that she wanted to send them out with her graduation announcements. (first time graduate Mom) . I didn't have enough time to wait for a photographer, so I called on my sister Amber to help. She is such a good sport. We took an afternoon and I think the results were amazing. Here are some of my favorites.

Senior Cotillion

Last week was Brittney's last high school dance. It was so much fun taking her shopping I was glad when she finally found "the dress". She looks so beautiful. She went with her friend Tate. He must be a pretty good friend to take her even after all that her dad said to him before they left.

Excuses....

OK I just don't have any excuses for not updating my blog except for the old stand by " I have been really busy"!! I wish I could say that I have been on an exotic vacation for three months and that I just got back into town, but I can not lie. I just simply have not taken the time to blog. I wanted to, but haven't and so now I will do some updating.

*First, at the end of February we took a family vacation to Disneyland, and when I say family I mean The whole clan, (my brother, my 2 sisters and their families). Mom and Dad was supposed to come but unfortunately mom got sick and had to cancel in the end. Luckily she is better now.

We had to photoshop Grandma and Grandpa in since they were not able to come. :(

I love my family (the whole clan)!!! They are so much fun!!!

The Car

My car needed the timing belt replaced and it was going to cost about $1000 dollars to have it done. So Mike looked up how to do it on the internet and decided that it was something that he could probably do. He ordered the parts for about $250. He knew that it would take most of a day to do it and so he waited until today to make sure he would have enough time. Imagine my surprise when I went out to check on him and this is what I saw.

I was just a little freaked out!!!!

And here is the culprit himself. He assures me that he can get it all back together again but right now I am having some serious concerns. I love this guy so much but he sure knows how to make me stress.

Swimming

Brittney and Garrett were both on the swim team this year. Brittney spent her Senior year swimming for Roy High and Garrett spent his Freshman year swimming for Syracuse High. It has been fun to watch both of them. It was great when their meets were against each other. Here are the two of them together.

Now apparently it is a tradition to shave your head for the Region swim meet. Garrett really thought that it would be fun to join in on this. I was a little apprehensive about this but decided it would be ok. (It's hair it will grow back)
So here is his transformation.

I let him have the mohawk for the Region meet but insisted that it be shaved afterwards. Here is the final shaved head look. Garrett said "wow, it really makes my eyebrows pop!!"

Ashley gets Braces

Ok Ashley's tooth that we had pulled a year and a half ago finally came in enough so that she could get braces. So we took her in to get the deed done. This is a picture of her before the braces.

This is her after she got them on. She was so excited to pick out the color. (She went with the aqua green and blue.) She said that the braces better come off in exactly one year. I hope they do for the orthodontists sake.

Being Grateful

I just love Thanksgiving not just for the food but because it makes me reflect upon all of the things I am thankful for. Last week for family home evening we made lists of things that we are thankful for and as we made the lists they just got longer and longer. I could never list everything I am thankful for but there are a few things that I do want to mention. First, my Family (kids, husband, parents, siblings, in-laws the whole dang clan) without them I would be lost. They are my joy. They are the ones that inspire me to try harder. Second, my testimony in my Savior and in the Gospel it is what keeps me grounded, it gives me guidance and direction in my life. I have been blessed with so much and I would feel very ungrateful to not acknowlege them this holiday season.

Football Season

Our family loves football. Since Garrett isn't playing football this year, we have been able to see more of the BYU football games. Ashley has been begging for a foam finger forever, we finally found one for her. She even wears it at home when we watch the games on tv. So far the Cougars seem to be off to a good start. I hope they continue to do well.
